I thought these were so clever and I had to try them. Easy to fill, freeze, stick in a plastic bag and reuse. Thanks for taking a great idea to fruition.
I saw these on an IG post and liked the idea, though usually I freeze my soups flat. But the idea of stacking them like bricks really appealed to me. I bought the 2 cup one and the wee one, and I love both. Once frozen, the lid is a little difficult to remove but that's the only issue. The frozen blocks push right out. Easy, peasy. Brilliant. Thank you!
This size was my first purchase from Souper Cubes and I bought 2 each of the other sizes as soon as this one arrived. First: this thing is amazingly well made. As soon as you open it, you can tell it is quality. I am a single person who lives alone, which makes me a meal-prepper by default because cooking in small portions / managing leftovers is a hassle. Recently I cooked two meals: one needed a *little bit* of white wine and one needed a *little bit* of red. Did I mention I don't drink? I did not want to waste the remainder of the bottles that I specifically went out and bought for these meals nor did I want to mess with freezing them into the whiskey cube trays I had been freezing my pasta sauce in, so I bought this size and am currently freezing the white wine in 1/4 cup portions. I am also looking forward to freezing leftover stock in this size and my formerly whiskey-cubed pasta sauce is going to go into these as well because the shape is so much more convenient and I can already tell they will be so much easier to pop out than the whiskey trays. I am realizing I may need a second one. I also love the idea of making little compound butters in these. So many great ideas! Anyway, cannot recommend these, and this size specifically, enough. 1/4-1/3 cup of pasta sauce is perfect for one (measured, dry) serving of pasta and the bars will take up so much less space than the beveled square cubes I was making and fighting to get out. You won't regret getting this size.
I love these half cup Souper Cubes for my chopped herbs in oil and flavoured butters, citrus juice and zest as well as leftover buttermilk. I can conveniently store my frozen items in zip lock freezer bags marked by category (for savory or sweet) : for soup recipes, topping for steaks, stir fry, or for baking. You make my life easier.
